Hi. My name is Raf and  welcome to BYTHEBASICS. 

This blog is about inspiring people to live life the best basic way possible. 

Didn’t know best and basic could co-exist? I didn’t either until I became a minimalist. 

Minimalism for me is the discipline of decluttering my life in order to focus on my reason for life—Jesus Christ. 

Clutter does not always translate as material or tangible. We accumulate clutter in just about every aspect of our lives. In our thoughts, our habits, commitments, relationships, finances, and the list could go on and on.

Our lives need intentional editing. Spring cleaning is not only for the house, it is also for the self.

And most importantly, it starts at the core.  

 “Lead me in the path of Your commandments, for I delight in it. Incline my heart to Your testimonies, and not to selfish gain! Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in Your ways.” Ps. 119:35-37

Living life by the basics means being rooted in the Word of God and finding delight in Jesus.

When Christ becomes the focus of our lives, the unnecessary fades in the background, allowing more room to pursue God…more room to pursue joy.
